Big Yank is remembered for its shirts, but Reliance put the name on work pants too, from 1930s salt-and-pepper whipcord breeches to 1950s denim dungarees. The collector blog Vintage Workwear documented a 1950s pair with a Serval zipper, a snap at the waist embossed Union Made, copper rivets and 10 oz Sanforized denim, with redline selvedge hidden inside the triple-stitched leg seam. Those dungarees are the real product behind this page. We found no record of a Big Yank engineer-cut pant, so read that as a seller's phrase. Big Yank's 1930s pants carried a size-and-lot tag reading A Reliance Product and a loomed Sanforized label. Check the zipper, the waist snap and the tag in the photos, and buy on measurements rather than the tag size.

If you’ll collect it
Collectors want the original Serval zipper, the Union Made snap and the Big Yank tag all present.
Ask for the waist flat and doubled, inseam, front rise, thigh and leg opening. Sanforized denim shouldn't shrink much more, but old work pants were often hemmed and altered, so buy on measurements rather than the tag.
