Levi's · 501-0115 · USA-made pairs from the 1980s and 1990s; the 0115 code is still sold
0115 is the finish code for the 501 in Rinse, Levi's dark washed indigo, and it's one of the longest-running codes on the jean. Retailers still sell new 00501-0115 pairs, and vintage sellers list USA-made 501-0115s from the 1980s and 1990s alongside 2000s pairs made in places like the Philippines. A Rinse pair was washed before it left the factory, so it doesn't need the soak a 0000 Shrink-to-Fit does, and the tag size sits closer to the real size. That makes it a good pick if you want a dark 501 to wear straight away. The code alone won't date a pair, so read the care label. Made in USA with a factory number on the button puts it before 2004, and a newer label tells you which country and plant made it. The USA-made ones are the 0115s to hunt.
Date it from the photos
If you’ll wear it
Pick 0115 if you want a dark 501 you can wear the day it arrives. A USA label gets you the older make for not much more.
A Rinse pair was washed at the factory, so it won't shrink the way a 0000 Shrink-to-Fit does and the tag sits closer to the real size. Decades of washing still move things, so go by the waist measured flat and doubled, the front rise, the thigh and the inseam.

Measurements first, then the details
The usual 501 wear applies, with crotch blowouts, knee wear and frayed hems on older pairs. A dark Rinse pair shows fading and stains easily, so ask for daylight photos.
Buying guide
For a dark 501 to wear now, we'd take the 1988 USA-made 501xx-0115 that measures 30x31 (tagged 33x32), at $76 delivered. There are at least 175 for sale and most ask $50–120 delivered. Current 0115 pairs with no USA claim ask about $27–44, and Made in USA pairs from the 80s and 90s start around $51. The code alone won't date a pair, so read the care label in the photos. Made in USA means before 2004, and a button number that matches the label's factory code backs it up. A Rinse pair shrinks less than a 0000, so the tag sits closer, but still go by the waist measured flat and doubled, the rise, thigh and inseam. eBay's search cards don't show seller feedback for these, so check it on the item page, and skip the $316 80s 34x34, over four times the band median.
$27.09est. delivered
The cheapest 0115 here at $27 delivered, but the title makes no USA claim, so treat it as a later pair made abroad. It suits you if you just want a dark 501 to wear, and the care label photo will name the country.
